Does the presence of scenery, be it natural or lacking natural elements, influence our caloric judgment during the food selection process, especially with complex dishes? The present study affirms this hypothesis, albeit solely for foods that are perceived as relatively unhealthy. Specifically, individuals are prone to underestimating the calorie content of relatively unhealthy foods when they are displayed against a natural backdrop rather than an urban one.
