I am Dr. Evanka Madan, a seasoned postdoctoral research associate with more than seven years of academic research experience to my credit. I have a good background in research thanks to my Biochemistry/Cancer-focused Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from AIIMS, New Delhi and M.Sc. from PGIMER, Chandigarh. I'm currently employed with JNU in Delhi as a CSIR Scientist Pool Officer. My broad research interest is to study the signal transduction pathways altered in leishmaniasis and malaria and how to target them therapeutically. Of all, one of our studies focuses on investigating selected plant natural products for antimalarial potential and mechanism of activity. I am presently working to elucidate the role of Sphingosine kinase (SphK) inhibitors in sensing Sphingosine-1-phosphate (SIP) signaling and inducing lysosomal stress in human macrophages and RBC'S infected with Leishmania donovani and Plasmodium falciparum respectively. My research focuses on the fundamental processes of these SphK inhibitors, and I consider how they may be used to prevent and treat leishmaniasis/malaria. Some of the great qualities I possess are my outstanding analytical skills and result orientation. I have exhibited a strong sense of ownership and commitment with highest quality standards and delivered results consistently on or before the timelines. I have proactively taken up additional responsibilities as per the need of an hour. I fearlessly make my decisions and bring a lot of energy that drives others and raises the bar. Additionally, I come with a strong academic background, sense of teamwork, integrity and ability to put in sustained quality effort consistently. I believe that my academic credentials together with my research experience and technical proficiency would help me make a significant contribution in the field of research . I am a fluent and effective English communicator and have expert, publication quality English for scientific editing and writing. I have led many scientific conferences successfully as a good anchor. My strengths are excellent presentation skills, good lab citizenship with experience of working in an international environment. Innovative, out-of-the-box thinking, strong determination and perseverance, positive out-going personality and dextrous fingers. “Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failures, loyalty and persistence”
